Cyanotype prints on recycled cotton fabric, 150cmx85cm and 150cmx45cm.

For this part of the project I worked with Reception children (aged 4-5), to make large cyanotype (sun-print) maps of their playground - representing their social and emotional landscape as well as their physical one. The children used toys and objects (such as flowers, stones, mud etc) to position themselves, their geographical surroundings and their usual activities and games on the map.
We set up a wildlife camera in the Forest School garden, and over a period of two months (February and March) it documented night-time visitors to the school. I compiled the still images into a timelapse-style film, and the children in Year One helped me to record the soundtrack.
These are very long exposure pinhole photographs (solargraphs), made in the school grounds. The exposure time varied in duration from a week to a month. The images record the physical movement of the earth in the form of sun-trails. The arcs of light that you see in the sky depict the sun; each recorded line is a single (sunny) day.
